Woodchip Hopper Car Roster
Over half of the Georgia Road system is located in the Southeastern and Atlantic Seaboard area of the United States. Pulp, paper and timber comprise a large component of the Georgia Road traffic base. While modern trends in the market segment have changed drastically, unlike other Class One railroads in the South, Georgia Road is committed to every customer and every carload. An example of this commitment is the acquisition and modernization of the woodchip handling fleet. Georgia Road works with customers by assisting in the location of regional chipping plants to reduce over-the-road long distance log trucking. By providing both adequate and well-maintained equipment, Georgia Road actively seeks to increase rail service, reducing wear and tear on roads and highways with the added benefit of decreasing fossil fuel emissions.
